This healthy Strawberry Jalapeño Salsa is naturally sweet from ripe strawberries and perfectly balanced by the spice of jalapeño peppers. It's an easy to make appetizer or snack with much less sodium than store-bought brands. It's delicious served with your favorite tortilla chips, tossed into a salad or spooned onto toast.

Ingredients for Strawberry Jalapeño Salsa
This recipe has only 6 main ingredients. The simplicity of this recipe allows the freshness of the fruit, vegetables and herbs to shine through. Here's what you'll need:
- Ripe strawberries- Look for deeply colored red strawberries. That's usually an indication that they are ripe and sweet. Driscoll's organic strawberries are my go to for this recipe!
- Jalapeño peppers- These peppers are considered to be more mild, but they can still deliver quite a kick to any recipe.
- Red onions- A must for that classic salsa flavor.
- Tomatoes- I use cherry or grape tomatoes for this recipe because they tend to be slightly sweeter. If it's summer and you've got beautiful ripe beefy tomatoes on hand, use them!
- Cilantro- Gives an element of herbal freshness and is a must for any salsa recipe.
- Lime juice- Just one squeeze of a lime is all you need to liven up the flavors.

How To Make Strawberry Jalapeño Salsa
This recipe takes about 10 minutes to make start to finish. It couldn't be more simple!
- Dice up all the ingredients.
- Add them to a bowl and toss together with a pinch of salt and lime juice.
Nutrition Notes
Using fresh fruit in recipes like in my mango and black bean salad, makes a world of a difference when it comes to flavor. Fresh fruit, like strawberries in salads, in drinks, or in oatmeal, for example, adds a natural sweetness, plus a ton of nutritional benefits including extra fiber, vitamins, antioxidants. In the long run this can help you cut back on added sugars.
Fruity salsa happen to be my favorite. The combination of sweet and spicy together is exciting and delicious!
Store-bought varieties can contain several hundred milligrams of sodium for just a few tablespoons! With this homemade salsa, all you need is just a pinch of salt to bring out the fresh flavors.
Salsa Variations + Substitutions
Don't have ripe strawberries? Sweeten them with a bit of honey or sugar.
Don't like spice? You can adjust the amount of spice in this recipe by limiting the amount of jalapeño pepper you use (this recipe calls for only half of one pepper). Or you can omit the jalapeño altogether and try an even milder poblano pepper. Red or green peppers would be fine as well. I recommend not omitting the peppers completely though, as they do give the salsa flavor and crunch.
Don't like chunky salsa? You can pulse (not blend) these ingredients in a blender for a more "restaurant style" or thinner consistency salsa.
This recipe is great for picnics and summer BBQ's!
